Mike Todd gave a powerful sermon on the definition of waiting. If you have never heard of him, LISTEN TO HIM! He illustrated that we usually tap our feet impatiently, looking to God to provide on our timeline. He then put a cloth napkin across his forearm to demonstrate that we should wait on God as a waiter does. This simple, yet enlightening, adjustment of our understanding of how to properly come to God blew my mind. I then began to re-evaluate my life and how I approached God, was I humble, or was I huffing and puffing at His disregard for my timeline? I was reminded of that sermon as I prayed about my fundraising. I noticed that I first came to God expecting Him to give me the $15,800 overnight because if He put this promise in my heart, then it was His problem. And my dad always said, ” the first step in solving a problem is figuring out who has the problem.” God quickly slapped some sense into me. I found out that even the painstaking process of fundraising can be used to strengthen my relationship with Him and His people. The spirit pushed me to interact with people I would shy from. These people, especially Kate Orb, have become dear friends, who not only invested and prayed for my journey but have taught me valuable lessons in thriving in the world. As I communicated with people about God’s plan for me, the glory and beauty of his plan are constantly revealed to me in new ways. He continues to teach me how to be a servant to people, and how to love unconditionally. I have noticed I am more joyful, secure, and content in His plan through every task I have had to complete. Just like Maverick City sang, I will wait on the Lord, for He will renew my strength.
